Just as you and your family decide how to spend the money that is left after paying taxes guess who decides how the money generated by taxes is spent – correct Politicians.
You might well say what about the taxes paid by companies – guess who owns the companies – correct- individuals do either separately or jointly so again who is paying the taxes?
Politicians get all excited about their great plans for spending our money and they expect us to also be excited – but why?
Do we get the fancy salaries, generously funded superannuation/pensions, overseas trips many times including family members, first class travel and accommodation – hell No -but we are still meant to be grateful to them – why I ask myself. Can you imagine any other situation where you would give your money to a complete stranger so they could enjoy this type of lifestyle?
They have so many different names for the methods they employ to get money off us that they deserve a prize for creativity. They devote a considerable amount of their time thinking up new ways to separate us from our money while at the same time spending our money on advertising to tell us what a good job they are doing. Could you imagine asking your boss for an advertising allowance to promote how lucky he is to have you as an employee? These people are unbelievable.
They have so many ways and people to help them separate us from our money. Not only the ATO but the judiciary, animal rangers, parking officers, police forces etc etc. It is criminal how much of our police officers time is spent generating income for the politicians. Yet many of our streets are almost no go zones through lack of effective policing activities. Not happy with what is raised directly by the police they now install speed cameras which even the police have doubts on how effective they are at stopping criminal driving offences but the Politicians just love the income.
There are countries where the residents are so convinced that their politicians waste their money that they have what is called a black economy where the politicians don’t get their usual share. This black economy is a large part of the total economy in many so called third world countries. Are they really third world or do they have a better grasp of a politicians value. Who do you think wanted GST or VAT it was not the individuals but the politicians. They start off with a low level of tax and over time increase it so they can so they can spend more keeping themselves in a job. Not bad if you can get a part of the action. Just look at how hard they fight to get pre selection for what are so called safe seats. Then if their seat becomes unsafe they try to swap to a safer one. That is self preservation at its best.
The only individuals who tend support this political grab fest are usually those that contribute the least to our society and want everybody else to support their chosen lifestyle.
It is often stated that there are only two guarantees in life taxes and death. In some countries they have managed to combine both under the heading of death duties – how is that for creativity?
