Too Much Money!

Creativity

The greatest destroyer of creativity in both a company and ones personal life, is too much money.

There is nothing like a shortage of money to increase the flow of creative juices where you want to achieve an objective badly enough.

Trying to overcome challenges without money makes you think in a way you may not have not tried for a long period of time. You will have to evaluate the problem from all angles. Do you create enough funds by eliminating certain expenses? You will be amazed how when you critically evaluate your expenses many items can be eliminated. In fact you will wonder why you had not thought of taking that action earlier. We tend to think all expense items are justified and that might have been correct at another time when your objectives were different. There is no such word as I CAN”T do without unless you are referring to FOOD, SHELTER and basic clothing. Can you increase the prices of your present products or services to generate funds? Many people are reluctant to increase their prices for fear of loosing volume.  Always remember that unless you can sell your products and services at a reasonable profit then your are either in the wrong market or you are doing something wrong. Your price can be a reflection of the value you place on your products or services. More people/organisations go broke through under charging than over charging.

I have experienced product and marketing managers who thought the only way to achieve a business objective was to throw money at it. We never lasted long together and they most probably still wonder why not. At the same time I have been lucky enough to have enjoyed the company of marketing people who took a small company to where it had a 50% share of the distribution channel it operated in. They were magic to watch and well worth the money paid to them. That many of these people went on to own successful private businesses or became the Chief Operating Officer of other companies came as no surprise. There is a greater shortage of creativity than money in our business world today.
